Urban greening project launched

CITY of San Fernando Mayor Oscar Rodriguez led Friday the formal inauguration of the Urban Greening Program along Jose Abad Santos Avenue (Jasa).
Rodriguez led officials of the El Circulo Fernandino Foundation, city executives, village chiefs, and environmentalists in unveiling the project marker at Jasa.
Angelo David, former president of El Circulo Fernandino Foundation, said the project is a partnership between the public and private sectors in the city.
The P2.7 million used to fund the greening project was generated by the foundation from its annual reception and ball, like one slated on Saturday at Heroes Hall.
“The El Circulo Fernandino Annual Reception and Ball became a tradition. It was founded year 1920 and had been reactivated 1997,” David said.
“Before the inauguration we had to replace 71 withered palm trees because of our different weather conditions. This one, we hope, could help us in saving our environment,” he added.
The project is “humbly offered to the present and future generations of Fernandinos who will fulfill the shared vision of making the city a habitat of human excellence.” (Jean Kirsti T. Quiwa/Intern)
