PAGASA: Brace for 36-degree Celsius summer days in Metro Manila
After experiencing a 34.5-degree Celsius weather twice this month, Metro Manila might face even hotter days as state weather forecasters over the weekend warned temperatures in the National Capital Region could reach 36 degrees Celsius.
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said temperatures in other areas may even reach 37 degrees.
βIn Metro Manila, we can expect temperatures to reach 35 to 36 degrees,β Aurelio said in an interview on dzBB radio, adding that weather in areas such as Tuguegarao in Cagayan province may even reach 37 degrees β roughly the same as that of the human body.
On at least two occasions this month, Metro Manila residents sweltered through 34.5-degree heat, the highest so far this year.
Last Thursday, PAGASA recorded a high of 34.5 degrees Celsius in the NCR, the highest temperature so far this year.
Thursdayβs 34.5-degree temperature matched the 34.5 degrees Celsius recorded last March 3.
Meanwhile, rain looms over Eastern Visayas and Mindanao due to the easterlies, or winds from the east.
In its 5 a.m. Saturday bulletin, PAGASA said Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, it added.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Extreme Northern Luzon and coming from the east to northeast over the rest of the country.
The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough, it added.
