Suspected carnapper shot dead

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Elements of the city police shot dead a suspected carnapper after evading a road checkpoint and firing at a police officer who gave pursuit.
The still unidentified suspect, police said, ignored a checkpoint being conducted by joint elements of the Community Police Center (Compac) 3 of this city and the Pampanga Public Safety Company (PPSC) in Purok Pau in Barangay Calulut, leading to Mexico town.
Police reports said the suspect, on board a tricycle, came from Barangay Del Carmen here. When flagged down, the suspect rammed the checkpoint signboard and sped off toward Barangay Dalisdis in Mexico town, followed by another black Honda TMX motorcycle without plate number driven by another unknown male person.
Policemen chased the suspect, but the driver stopped and abandoned the tricycle at the shoulder of the road. He then fired his gun on the pursuing policemen and ran toward the rice field.
The shootout eventually led to the death of the suspect.
Police officers retrieved a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun, with four live ammos and one empty casing from the scene.
The black Honda TMX motorcycle used by the suspect was nowhere to be found, police said.
The cadaver of the suspect was taken to the Pangilinan Funeral Homes in Angeles City for autopsy.
