Sheryl Vicente not only creates bridal gowns. She also designs formal wears, corporate wears, and casual wears. She took up Legal Management in the Far Eastern University and did not quite expect to go into fashion designing. “During college, I did not really think that the arts can be a lucrative business,” Sheah starts. “I hear a lot of discouraging words from people around me to forego this dream, but of course this did not hinder me”. She started making outfits for her sisters and herself.
“Their approval and appreciation on my craft really made me more confident to pursue fashion designing [in the Fashion Design Institute of the Philippines].” In the end, many noticed her craft and from then on gained a lot of clients. “Why do clients like me? I honestly do not know! I think it is because of the relationship I form with them—kind of like a sister-friend. I make sure I can attend personally at all possible cost to every query, design meeting, and most of their entire fitting schedule.”
Sheah likes the timeless elegance of lace. “However I can also be inspired by a simple element seen in the streets and just recreate it to something. From a stretch of a fabric cut, I use my imagination and my own hands to form new cuts and creations.”
