Revenue bureau kicks off tax info campaign drive

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) here is set to officially kick-off its 2011 Tax Campaign on March 2 in bid to inform the public of their responsibility toward paying their taxes and the different programs offered by the agency.
The BIR, in a statement sent to Sun.Star, said the event is inspired by the patriotic tax campaign theme, “Buwis Mo Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
The BIR informed that the kick-off activity will be highlighted with a motorcade and the promotion of strategies to boost revenue collections, specifically the assigned revenue targets for Tax Year 2011.
The motorcade will roll at 8 a.m. starting at the BIR Regional Office compound, moving towards the major thoroughfares here. Similar events will be held in various provinces of Central Luzon and the collection district in Angeles City.
The top regional officials are expected to expound on the merits of the Tax Administration Reforms and flagship programs of the BIR under the stewardship of Commissioner Kim Jacinto Henares through program information drives.
Seminars and public awareness campaigns are also set to be implemented in the coming weeks to compliment the nationwide activity.
Among the flagship programs of the BIR, to name a few, are the Change Management Program, Run After Tax Evaders, Oplan Kandado, and Tax Compliance Verification Drive.
