Quarry rakes-in P26-M in January
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–The provincial government’s quarry revenue for the month of January was pegged at P26,215,000 as compared to January 2012’s collection of P25,755,000.
True to its mission of bringing transparency and good governance to every Kapampangan, the provincial government, led by Governor Lilia G. Pineda, was able to collect the amount thru the efficient operations of the Kapampangan a Lulugud At Matapat (KALAM).
According to Engr. Art Punsalan, Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Officer, since Pineda assumed office in June 2010, the quarry revenue increased annually. Records showed that in January 2011, the Capitol has collected some P20,280,000; P25,755,000 for January 2012; and P26,215,000 for the first month of 2013.
Pineda’s administration set a record-breaking feat in quarry collection amounting to P649,782,500 since she assumed office in June 2010.
“We still came within range even if the month of December last year was filled with holidays and non-operations. We are on target and, right now, we are optimistic that we would get to our projection of P770 million when the terms of Governor Pineda and Vice-Governor [Joseller] Yeng Guiao end June this year,” Punsalan said.
He said records showed the consistency of quarry collections that brought the quarry industry to its all-time high.
Punsalan said from July to December 2010, the capitol collected some P119 million. In 2011, quarry collection was pegged at P238 million.
The year 2012 proved to be the breakthrough as revenues peaked to P272 million, with monthly collections averaging P20 million.
“We are happy to note that we have set a benchmark in this administration,” Punsalan added.
With this, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao last Friday held their first committee hearing on the computerization of the quarry system that would secure the revenues for the Kapampangans. ●
