CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Dr. Marcelo Jaochico, Provincial Health Office chief, reiterated his call for the public to remain vigilant on possible threats that might be brought about by water-borne diseases this rainy season.
“Inuulit ko yung warning natin lalo na sa residente dyan sa 4th District kung saan marami sa mga kababayan natin ang nakakaranas ng pagbaha. Mag-ingat po tayo sa mga sakit na pwede nating makuha dito,” Jaochico said.

He explained that if residents are not cautious this rainy season, there will be a high probability that they may suffer from various diseases.
Among the prevalent diseases during this season are dengue, leptospirosis, influenza and diarrhea.
In the City of San Fernando, a doctor who refused to be identified said there are about 40 dengue cases recorded in different villages here. This includes two fatalities from the villages of Sta. Lucia and Quebiawan.
In Sto. Tomas town, earlier reports recorded 30 individuals from Purok 1 in Moras Dela Paz village afflicted with dengue, with one casualty.
Mayor Joselito Naguit said the dengue outbreak is under control.
But a resident from Sto. Tomas said, “Dito po sa amin umabot na sa 40 ang nagkaroon ng dengue.”
“Isa pang dapat pag ingatan ng mga residente, lalo na yung nasa coastal towns, ay yung leptospirosis. Ito ay nakukuha sa ihi ng daga at posibling kumapit sa open wounds kapag lumulusong sa tubig baha,” Jaochico added.
“Residents from these flood-prone areas need to be properly informed on how the disease could be contracted,” the PHO chief said.
