PNP downgrades alert in Luzon, Visayas after peaceful ‘Undas’

MANILA—The Philippine National Police (PNP) has downgraded the alert condition of police troops in Luzon and Visayas after they have concluded public safety operations during the long weekend.
With this development, the PNP Directorate for Operations placed all Luzon-based and Visayas-based regional offices under heightened alert condition.
All six Mindanao-based regional offices, including the Special Action Force remain on full alert condition, the PNP said without elaborating.
The same directive reminded all PNP Units to secure all PNP camps and offices, vital installations, economic key points and places of convergence of people.
Police commanders were also given the discretionary authority to upgrade their alert level based on the prevailing peace and order situation in their respective areas of responsibility.
Meanwhile, PNP Chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome extended the congratulations of President Benigno Aquino III to all police and military personnel and government agencies for the generally peaceful celebration of this year’s All Saints’ Day.
Some 45,000 police personnel were deployed for public safety operations during the just concluded four-day weekend.
These personnel will be given the chance to observe All Saints’ Day and pay respects to their departed loved ones before they will be deployed again to perform similar public safety operations in the coming Yuletide season, PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., said.
