Pampanga ex-governor ‘linked’ to Congress bet
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A priest-turned governor of Pampanga is being linked again to his former provincial administrator who is now running for congresswoman against reelectionist Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Fr. Ed Panlilio, who is the Liberal Party (LP) official candidate for governor here, continue to deny the persistent rumor on his allegedly having a romantic relationship with lawyer Vivian Dabu.
Panlilio told ABS-CBN there is no truth to the rumors that Dabu is his girlfriend.
“Hindi, kaibigan,” he said.
Panlilio is running against rival and reelectionist Governor Lilia Pineda while Dabu, who claims to be also from Lubao, Pampanga, is seeking to represent Pampanga’s second district in Congress.
Panlilio and Dabu are running under the ruling LP ticket.
The network also reported that Panlilio also denied fathering a lovechild. “Eh ‘di i-prove nila kung meron. Sabi ko all along na wala.”
Panlilio downplayed allegations that he was not in good terms with Pampanga’s mayors while he was in power.
“Hindi lahat. ‘Yung de-prinsipyong mayor kasama namin. ‘Yung hindi natin kasama ‘yung walang prinsipyo noon,” he said.
Panlilio’s runningmate for vice governor is Ma. Amalia Tiglao who is pitted against Dennis Pineda, son of Governor Pineda.
Mayor Oscar Rodriguez of San Fernando is also running under the LP ticket for congressman of the third district of Pampanga.
LP has no candidate for congressman in two districts of the province.
