P7-M community hospital to rise in Porac
PORAC, Pampanga – True to her commitment of bringing medical services closer to the Kapampangan, Gov. Lilia Pineda approved the P7- million budget for the general renovation and conversion of the health center in Barangay Pio, this town into a community hospital.
Pineda, in her visit here, noticed the dilapidated and poor condition of the health center that serves the 5,000 families of the Pio Model Community Resettlement and seven other nearby villages.
The governor said the use of the health center could be maximized, given its size, if renovated.
“The provincial government is very much willing to finance the project just to reach out with the indigents in this town who need medical care and health services,” the governor said.
Engr. Olimpio “Noli” Pangan, assistant provincial engineer, said the center needs major improvement and rehabilitation and the governor wants it to be patterned to the facilities constructed for other district hospitals.
“We will change the design. We will add more rooms and improve the façade to make it more convenient and spacious,” said Pangan.
The governor told the residents that she will talk to Center for Health and Development Regional Dir. Leonita Gorgolon on the accreditation of the community hospital as birthing station and extension of the Jose Songco Lapid District Hospital.
Jack Rubi, Pio barangay chairman, commended the Pineda Administration for heeding the needs of his constituents.
“Gov. Pineda heeded our call for assistance as I told her the condition of our health center, and we were surprised when she immediately called the engineer and vowed to allocate P7-million for the renovation,” stated Rubi.
Mayor Condralito dela Cruz and Vice Mayor Dexter David disclosed that, aside from this, the governor vowed to help in the construction of a covered court and improvement of 10 classrooms for the high school here.
