Lubao PESO named region’s best
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the municipality of Lubao bagged the Central Luzon’s Best PESO 2013 for first and second class municipality category given by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab was named Best Local Chief Executive and Raquel Lugtu as Best Municipal PESO Manager.
Pampanga PESO Manager Luningning Vergara said this is the first time that a town from the province emerged as the champion in public employment representing the region in the national level competition.
She said the municipal PESO of Lubao has been a top performer in the province for so many years and “they deserved the award.”
In the recently concluded Year-End Performance Assessment (YEPA) conducted by DOLE Region III and Regional PESO Managers Association Federation, Inc. Lubao PESO has bested other towns from the other six provinces in Central Luzon.
Lugtu said the award was realized due to the outpouring support of Mayor Cayabyab, a key to the success of all the programs implemented by their office such as jobs fair, local recruitment activities, skills enhancement trainings, and activation of the Barangay PESO Coordinators.
“The implementation of the employment programs was smoothly done because of the support given by Mayor Cayabyab,”Lugtu said.
She said aside from the regular programs mandated to all PESO offices, they assisted job seekers in processing their documents and open linkages to different agencies that provide employment opportunities here and abroad.
“Our town is number one in sending overseas workers in Korea. We have assisted more than 2,000 Cabalen who are now employed in different companies there,” she added. ●Jenna Lumbang
