Laus leads hospital dorm inauguration

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Board Member Monina Laus led the inauguration of a new dormitory of the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital (DPMMH) in Guagua town Monday.
Laus, chairman of the Provincial Health committee, said the dormitory would serve as resting area of hospital staff and personnel, including volunteer nurses, during nighttime.
Joining Laus in the inauguration were Board Member Trina Dizon, doctors, nurses and other volunteer workers.
The new dormitory has a total of four huge bedrooms and could cater around 40 individuals simultaneously. Other facilities such as a pantry, receiving area with television sets, and comfort rooms are also in place for the convenience of hospital staff.
Dr. Eddie Ponio, hospital chief, said the DPMMH is the first district hospital in the province to establish such a dormitory for its workers.
Ponio said the dormitory is free for use and would be made available to all nightshift personnel.
“Nagtulong-tulong po kaming mga empleyado dito. May nagdala ng kurtina, upuan pati ng television set para maging maayos po ang panunuluyan ng mga kapatid namin sa serbisyo publiko,” a nurse said.
Meanwhile, Laus said the Provincial Government is continuously serving the best interest of Kapampangan patients by strengthening the capabilities of all district hospitals in the form of new equipments, instruments and other hospital facilities.
Recently, the Provincial Government manifested its intention to put up another district hospital in Apalit town.
