Late poet’s book launched in Lubao
ANGELES CITY–A poetry book written in Kapampangan is set to be launched in Lubao town today (December 28).
The book “Iyas King Balas” by author-poet Delfin Quiboloy will be jointly launched by the Lubao local government, the Juan D. Nepomuceno (JDN) Center for Kapampangan Studies, and the poet laureate’s family at the Diosdado Macapagal Museum in Lubao.
The program will start with an opening song by Koro Agustin. It will be preceded by a short introduction by Erlinda Cruz of the Kapampangan Center, who is also the head of Provincial Language Council.
Welcome remarks will be given by Lubao Mayor Mylyn Cayabyab, daughter to Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda.
Three poets will read an excerpt from the book including “Iyas King Balas” by Poeta Laureado Amado Gigante, “Limbug ne ing Aldo” by poeta Joel Mallari, and “Tauling Dalit ning Poeta” by Poeta Laureado Romeo Rodriguez while a short video presentation will be prepared about the author-poet Quiboloy.
Meanwhile, Dante Quiboloy, one of the sons of the poet laureate, will serve a message from his family for the launching while poeta laureado Romeo Rodriguez will talk in behalf of the poets. Intermission numbers will also include “Dance With My Father” by Jesrael Colis and “Tatang Ku” by Anya Colis.
A symbolic presentation of the book will also be done by the Quiboloy siblings and included on the list will be Mayor Cayabyab, Robert Tantingco of the Kapampangan Center, Lauro Baul of the Macapagal Museum, and the libraries of Lubao and the provincial government.
Poet laureate Quiboloy is considered one of the greatest poets in Pampanga and was born to Dionisio Quiboloy and Anastasia Turla on July 23, 1911.
He was a native of Lubao and has produced more than 200 works. He was crowned for recognition by the JDN Center for Kapampangan Studies only this January 2012 and he is also known as a townmate of Diosdado Macapagal. He died on April 25, 1999. ●Charlene A. Cayabyab
