Labor office holds forum with labor groups

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Central Luzon recently hosted a forum for labor representatives of the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC) from various companies across the region.

The forum, which adheres to the Aquino administration’s “Tuwid na Daan Tungo sa Kaunlaran para sa Lahat,” is an initiative of Regional Director Leopoldo De Jesus.

The forum is aimed at fostering a sharing of thoughts and insights between the Dole and workers through social dialogue involving various issues concerning labor and the plight of laborers as a whole here in the region.

Issues discussed during the open forum include contractualization, P125 across-the-board wage hike, review of existing free trade agreement, exploitation on the apprenticeship program, and equalization of pay of private and public workers.

Director de Jesus expressed his warm appreciation to the labor representatives for taking time to participate in the labor department’s invitation to the dialogue.

He assured them that Dole’s doors are always open for them to avail its services and intervention whenever and wherever.

Meanwhile, Assistant Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio urged the labor representatives to continuously hold more dialogues in order to further harmonize relationships between management and labor at the workplace.

The Dole works hand in hand with labor and management through the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council here in the region to effectively foster industrial relations through social dialogue.
