Kabalen artists celebrate culture, arts in exhibit

ANGELES CITY — Local artists here are celebrating the National Arts Month with a list of activities highlighting Kapampangan arts and folk culture traditions.
Don De Dios said Kapampangan artists here have set up a month-long list of events for local art enthusiasts and Kapampangan culture lovers.
The celebration kicked off Friday with the exhibit dubbed “Leguan 2011: Celebrating the Beauty of Kapampangan Folk Arts and Culture.”
The kick-off featured a visual arts exhibition by De Dios, Arnel Garcia, Dr. Vitt Pantig, Aa Rivera, and Gary Salas, which will be followed by an audition for the Kapampangan Rock Opera (February 12) and a full moon jamming on February 18.
Kapampangan cultural lovers will also have the chance to sample unique Kapampangan food with the vegetarian night by Pepot Caniones, and a hearty poetry reading session with the Wednesday Poetry Group and Lucio Sison on February 23.
The celebration will be capped with a film viewing and art talk on February 25. Organizers are inviting art lovers to support the upcoming activities. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
