Jail escapee nabbed in robbery try

MABALACAT — A 25-year-old man who escaped on April 23 from the Mabalacat police detention cell was arrested Wednesday after he tried to rob a residence at Santa Maria Village in Balibago, Angeles City.
Noel Garcia David, a resident of #85 Mampan Street, Camachiles, this town, was arrested again by joint elements of the Angeles City police intelligence division, Balibago Bantay Bayan, and the Mabalacat town police around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Superintendent Rolly Mendoza, Mabalacat police chief, said they have coordinated David’s escape with the Angeles City police headed by Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono Jr.
With the help of the Angeles City police intelligence division, Mendoza said they discovered that the suspect was hiding at his companion’s residence in Sitio Bangcal, Hensonville Subdivision here.
Mendoza said David, who was accused of stealing a tricycle in Barangay Camachiles on April 6, allegedly belonged to the Homer Group, a criminal syndicate engaged in robbery.
David managed to escape from the Mabalacat police station by cutting the grills of a window at the back portion of his detention cell.
After David’s escape, Mendoza said the local police immediately conducted a manhunt operation and coordinated with nearby localities.
“Hindi namin tinigilan ang paghahanap para hindi na makapaminsala yung suspek (We did not stop the manhunt operation to arrest the suspect),” Mendoza said.
He said he will seek legal advice regarding David’s latest offense.
“Titignan natin kung pwede natin syang kasuhan ng panibagong kaso dahil sa kanyang pagtakas (We will see if we can file new charges against him),” he added.
The police official also said that he will solicit the local government unit’s assistance for the renovation of the detention cell to prevent similar incidents.
David, who is facing a carjacking case before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office here, is now detained at the Mabalacat Police Station.
