Hospital arrest what?, Arroyo landslides rival for House re-election
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Despite being under hospital arrest, former President and Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was re-elected and proclaimed by the Commission on Elections as winner in the province’s Second District congressional race at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Arroyo won via landslide with 168,718 votes against Liberal Party bet Atty. Vivian Dabu with only 18,547 votes.
Arroyo was proclaimed right after the certificate of canvass from Lubao town was submitted to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
According to the Comelec, at least 215,991 of the 278,989 registered voters cast their votes in the Second District towns of Lubao, Sasmuan, Floridablanca, Porac, Guagua and Sta. Rita.
Arroyo was represented by her lead counsel Atty. Peter Paul Maglalang during the proclamation.
Maglalang said Arroyo is happy to gain the trust and respect of her constituents despite not being able to campaign during the midterm polls.
Arroyo, in a statement, thanked her constituents for giving her a fresh mandate to serve her people.
She said the mandate given by her constituents is the reason why she survived in the face of the challenges around her.

The congresswoman further said that her Cabalens serve as an inspiration for her to continue her legislative agenda for the development and welfare of the people.
