Familiar feud
It only got hotter.
The feud between old-time political allies, Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin and Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan has stepped a notch higher in intensity and is not showing any signs that it will cool down until the May 13 elections.
The two began the bickering with cheap shots about alleged corruptions in each other’s offices; questions of who led the city government better; and, now, accusations of vote-buying for and against both candidates.
Who is really hurt between these two officials are not themselves but the people of Angeles City who are expecting that their elected leaders will work hand-in-hand for them. What is happening now is the total opposite, with each of them calling illegal the services rendered by the other camp.
The cycle of accusations and counter-accusations have filled the pages of local newspapers for a long time now and the people, who should be applauding whenever they see their officials implementing programs but end up being towed to believing their congressman or mayor is cashing in on the projects.
While the two are at it against each other, we hope that the business sector in the city will not be adversely affected by the feud. If it will be, then the bickering between the two officials should stop before they will no longer have a city to fight over.
