‘Enteng’ exits Philippines
MANILA — Tropical Storm Enteng (international name: Khanun) left the country on Tuesday morning, the weather bureau said.
Weather forecaster Jori Loiz said “Enteng” entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) around 8 p.m. Monday, but exited just after four hours.
However, Loiz said it became a tropical storm as it maintained its strength as it moved out of the country.
He said as of 2 a.m. Tuesday, “Enteng” was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,100 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes, with maximum winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 30 kph.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Enteng” is expected to be at 940 kilometers north northeast of Basco, Batanes, or 30 kilometers northeast of Okinawa, Japan on Tuesday afternoon.
Loiz said if “Enteng” continues to move west northwest, it is headed to southern island of Japan. It will pass through Taiwan before heading to China.
But if “Enteng” changes direction and move north, it is headed to Korea, Loiz said.
Pagasa said “Enteng” no longer affects the country’s weather but a weak southwest monsoon is affecting Southern Luzon and Visayas.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said the temperature in Metro Manila may range from 24 to 33 degrees Celsius. It will have cloudy to partly cloudy skies and will experience isolated rainshowers in the afternoon or evening.
In its advisory, the weather bureau said Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
