CSF Archdiocese to conduct seminar on church heritage
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–In a bid to promote and protect church heritage structures, the Archdiocese of San Fernando will conduct a workshop this coming Monday (June 17) at the Holy Angel University (HAU) in Angeles City.
The seminar-workshop will start at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Academic Hall, St. Joseph Building of HAU.
The workshop aims to better familiarize the stewards of its heritage structures with the issues and fundamentals of conservation of the church.
The seminar-workshop will also serve as the venue to consult both clergy and lay leaders of heritage parish communities on drafting the Archdiocesan Commission on Church Heritage (ACCH) guidelines and setting up its organizational structure.
Among the issues to be tackled during the seminar include Language and Translation; Religious Tourism; Tangible Heritage; Intangible Heritage; and Archives and Museums.
The seminar-workshop is organized by the ACCH in cooperation with Holy Rosary Parish, Holy Angel University Institute for Christian Formation and the Center for Kapampangan Studies.
Expected speakers are two known leading authorities on Church heritage conservation, Prof. Regalado Trota Jose of the University of Santo Tomas Archives and Commissioner for Cultural Heritage of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts; and Fr. Milan Ted Torralba, Executive Secretary for the Permanent Committee for the Cultural Heritage of the Church of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
Among others who are expected to attend the seminar are parish priests, presidents of Parish Pastoral Councils (PPC) and Parish Heritage Coordinators.
The Archdiocesan also invited seminarians, Church heritage workers/practitioners and tourism officers of local government units (LGUs).
