Cops nab bizman for illegal guns
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Police are gaining grounds on their campaign against loose firearms in Central Luzon with the recent arrest of a businessman and confiscation of several guns in Apalit, Pampanga on Monday.
Chief Supt. Edgardo T. Ladao, Police Regional Office 3 director, said the operation was in lieu of a search warrant issued by Judge Angelo C. Perez of the Cabanatuan City Regional Trial Court Branch 27.
Ladao said joint elements of the PNP’s Regional Special Operations Task Group, Regional Intelligence Division and 3rd Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit raided the house of Ricardo Manandala Bonifacio in Barangay Sampaloc, Apalit at around 5:50 p.m.
According to Ladao, charges for violation of PD 1866 as amended by RA 8294 also known as Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunitions were filed against Bonifacio in court.
Police seized from Bonifacio two caliber 30 rifles with respective serial numbers 6969400 and 296288, a caliber 9mm Uzi machine pistol with serial number 87457, six magazines for caliber 9mm, five magazines for caliber 30 rifle, 100 pieces of bullets for caliber 30 rifle; and 74 pieces of bullets for caliber 9mm pistol.●Rudy J.
