Business in Angeles ‘bustling’ – EdPam
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan described as “bustling” the business and trade in Pampanga’s premiere city as he expects to host 11,000 registered businesses in 2013.
In his recent monthly press conference, Pamintuan said 10,569 businesses in 2012 was the highest-ever for the city. He added that they are looking to surpass the number this year.
Pamintuan said at least 8,588 businesses are now registered with them and others are in the process of completing the requirements for zoning, fire and sanitation permits.
The mayor said the steady increase in the number of businesses could be attributed to the city government’s “friendly, fair and transparent” transactions with applicants for business and other permits.
In 2011, there were 10,115 registered businesses.
Pamintuan noted the “re-birth of the old Angeles.” He was referring to the businesses in Nepo, a commercial and business district at the southwest portion of the city.
Recently, some 20 food outlets opened at Nepo, increasing the economic and tourism activities in the area.
Pamintuan also cited the operations of the new hotels, restaurants and other businesses along MacArthur highway in Balibago, the premiere area for entertainment and trade in the city. ●Joey Pavia
