Board member releases aid to indigent students

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Second district Board Member Olga Frances “Fritzie” David-Dizon distributed Thursday P125,000 in assistance to 50 indigent students of her district as part of her program in education.
David-Dizon personally met with the beneficiaries at the Provincial Board Session Hall in the City of San Fernando Thursday morning to personally hand over the assistance worth P2,500 for each of the beneficiaries.
“This is part of our educational assistance program which is supported by Governor Lilia Pineda. We have identified these beneficiaries based on their economic standing and their willingness to really study,” David-Dizon said.
David-Dizon said that while the assistance is not yet a full scholarship grant, she is still encouraging students to study hard and aspire for good grades.
She said good grades are always a plus factor when applying for scholarships and for eventual employment.
Justin C. Bonus, a beneficiary of the program, said the financial assistance is a great help in augmenting his tuition fee for this semester.
“We are very thankful to Board Member Fritzie and to Governor Pineda for this support. This financial assistance will go a long way,” Bonus said.
The board member added that the distribution is just the start of more financial assistances to be distributed by the Capitol in the next semester. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
