B-town celebrates Mother’s day
For every mother, her kid is always special. Whether kids do anything special for her or not, mothers always shower them with all their love.
For them ‘every day is Mother’s Day’. But ask children and most of them will have a bagful of apologies for not making their moms feel special, every day. Actor Tushar Kapoor is one such person. Busy juggling between films and promotions, he feels that he seldom gets time to spend with his mom. He says, “My mom still scolds me for dressing up too casually and I love it. My message to her is that though I barely get time to spend with her, her happiness is always a primary concern for me. I love her the most.”
When you study till the wee hours, she makes sure your supply of coffee or milk doesn’t end. If you wake up in the middle of the night because of a nightmare, she’s the one who hugs you tight and fills you up with her warmth. And, as actor Chitrangda Singh says, when you are in a bad mood, she’s the one who listens to you uncomplainingly. “Today, I would like to thank her for everything she has done for me.
So many times when she calls me up, I say that I’ll call her back and forget to do so. But she puts up with it,” she says. Does she still get scoldings from her mom? “Oh yes, she’s a mom after all. She keeps scolding me for not tidying up my room or for leaving my clothes in the bathroom, not eating well and sleeping well. I love her for guiding me always.”
Bollywood has had its share of super moms and songs dedicated to them. Of the many that one can’t forget is Ma pyari ma from Dasvidaniya. Actor Vinay Pathak, who dedicated the song to his reel mom in the film, says that it was indeed for his real life super mom. “She just has one complaint against me that I don’t eat properly. Whether it’s just after breakfast or after lunch, she keeps asking me what all I’ve had and my plans for the remaining meals. Now, I’ve decided to ask her about her meals. But every time I ask her, she ends up saying ‘abhi puja ho jaye, phir kahungi’. That’s what a mom is like.”
Yes, all moms are the same and for most actresses (especially) their moms play a very special role in supporting their careers. Actor Shazahn Padamsee says, “I love my mom. Whatever I do, she somehow finds a way to make me feel how I’ve done it in the best possible way. In return, I always make sure that I don’t give her a chance to complain. Though I take my own decisions, I discuss pros and cons with her. I’m too blessed to have her in my life.”
Just like actors, models too lead a very strenuous life. And when their moms come to their rescue, everything falls in place. Model Deepti Gujral, whose mom recently shifted with her, just can’t stop thanking her. “My mom’s a full-on crazy Punjabi lady. She keeps screaming at me for scattering my things after coming back home. I’m, as usual, the adamant ‘never changing’ types and she’s the bindaas types.” So what does she hear when she listens to her mom’s voice in her head? “She is very blunt. So many times she has told me that I’ve looked crap or worse, like a man in a particular shoot. She is very honest about her judgements and I love her for that. I would like to tell her that I really love her.” Model Sonalli Sehgall too sees her mom as someone who is always full of life. “We have a very special bond and I hardly remember her scoldings. I love taking her to my parties where she hesitatingly comes and then love to see her enjoy later.”
