90 minors rescued from Angeles City club
CAMP OLIVAS — Police operatives rescued over the weekend at least 90 minors suspected to be engaged in prostitution at Club Camelot, Fields Avenue in Angeles City.
Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon Director Edgardo Ladao said the owner of the club identified as Bernard Gerbes, 48, a German temporarily residing at Timog Park Subdivision in Angeles City, was arrested by the raiding team of Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, Regional Women and Children Protection, 3rd Regional Public Safety Battalion, members of the International Justice Mission, and Regional Social Welfare and Development.
Also arrested were Editha Secretario, 52, lady keeper, of Mt. View, Balibago; Janell Ocampo, 39, of Pulung Maragul; Nitchel Trimidal, 26, of Barangay Malabanias; Dianna Mallari, 24, of Malabanias, all in Angeles City; and Ramil Marino, 31, choreographer, of Dau, Mabalacat City.
The raiding team was armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Ma. Theresa Mendoza-Arcega of 3JR, Regional Trial Court branch 17, Malolos, Bulacan.
Ladao said that prior to the police operation, an informant reported that more or less 80 girls are working at the said club being managed by a certain “Bernie.”
According to the informant, some of the girls are minors being handled by a “mamasang” for prostitution activities.
The arrested suspects and the items seized from them were taken to the office of the Regional Women and Children’s Protection Division here for proper disposition.
The rescued minors were interviewed and were subjected to medical examination before they were turned over to the custody of the regional DSWD for proper disposition and counseling, Ladao said.
He said the police operation was done in a proper and orderly manner, and was witnessed by barangay officials of said place.
Ladao commended the operating troops for a job well done.
He also assured the public that PRO-Central Luzon will continue its campaign to eradicate all forms of criminality within the region. (Ric Sapnu/Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
