STO. TOMAS, Pampanga–Re-elected Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is set to be declared as an adopted son of Sto. Tomas for his “valuable contributions” to this town.
Third-termer Mayor Joselito Naguit bared this during his inaugural speech here last Friday where Trillanes administered the oathtaking ceremonies of elected town officials.
Naguit said that Trillanes was the only incumbent senator who reached out and gave importance to this town during the campaign period.
The mayor furthered that, by way of a resolution, Trillanes will be officially adopted and given recognition this coming October during the founding anniversary of their town.
“Maraming maraming salamat po Senator Trillanes sa pagbibigay ninyo ng importansiya sa mga Thomasians,” Naguit added.
According to Naguit, Trillanes visited their town last May 8 to reach to his constituents.
Naguit holds the record of being the only mayor elected for three terms in this town.
Meanwhile, the mayor expressed his gratitude to his constituents for the overwhelming support by giving him a new mandate to lead his town for the third term.
Naguit also asked his constituents to support all elected officials on their plans and programs for progress and development of their town.
Trillanes, for his part, said he will do everything to support this town, which is the smallest municipality in Pampanga.
TOWN HALL REHABILITATION
Trillanes said he will allot P5 million for the rehabilitation of this town’s municipal hall.
“Nagpe-pledge po ako ng P5 million para sa rehabilitation ng inyong municipal building. Una pa lamang po iyan. Kung meron pa ho kayo kailangan idaan lang po ni mayor sa office ko ‘yung request ninyo para magawan po natin ng paraan,” Trillanes stresssed.
The Senator also expressed his gratitude to the Kapampangans for voting him in the last election.
He also discredited the black propaganda hurled against him by his detractors during the last polls, which cited that he called for the reduction of teachers’ salaries.
Instead, Trillanes said, he was one of the authors of a bill seeking to double the salaries of the teaching force, even as he filed another bill to increase the entry salary level of the teachers from grade 10 to grade 12. ●Marna Dagumboy-del Rosario
