CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–The Federation of Pampanga truckers, association of quarry operators, local government units and the business sector all signified their support behind the Capitol’s plan to computerize and institutionalize the province’s quarry system.
Tony Buyson, president of the Association of Quarry Operators (AQO), said the computerization of the quarry system will increase the industry’s efficiency and transparency.
Buyson said they are supporting this move by the provincial government as this will benefit the province as a whole.
Vice Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao said Governor Lilia Pineda’s conditions should be that the computerization be credible and technically-viable.
Guiao said the objective of the computerized system is to lessen operational expenses and increase revenues for the better delivery of services to Kapampangans.
Guiao furthered that if the computerization pushes through, the provincial government will save some P15-20 million per year from overtime pay of quarry checkers alone.
The proposal to computerize the province’s quarry operations is seen to ensure efficient collection system and to maximize the industry’s potential.
Earlier, Guiao said institutionalizing the quarry system is one of the important pieces of legislation that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan would pass.
Guiao bared that there is an urgent need to computerize the province’s quarry operation in order to establish parameters for better projects and programs for Kapampangans.
He said that once this is realized, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will be able to set its own mechanism to eliminate human error in the operations.
“By computerizing quarry operations, we would be able to institutionalize quarry operations and maximize its potential. With that, the real trend and figures we achieved will not be altered whoever takes over the provincial government,” Guiao said.
He added safety measures will also be put in place for the continuous improvement in quarry system to achieve the most ideal revenue.
Attending the committee hearing on the proposed quarry computerization are Pampanga truckers, quarry operators, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), representatives from the local government units especially in six quarry towns, and business sector like Pampanga Chamber of Commerce (PamCham). ●–Marna D.
