CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Officers and members of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in Pampanga’s 19 towns and three cities are holding a Capability Enhancement and Team Building Workshop from May 7 to 8 at Puerto Galera, Mindoro to improve the generation of livelihood and jobs for province’s some two million residents.

This was according to Pampanga PESO manager Luningning Y. Vergara who joined the 40 participants in the two-day workshop pushed by Gov. Lilia Pineda.

Vergara said the workshop of the Pampanga PESO Managers Federation Inc. (PPMFI) was organized with the support of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Region III PESO Managers Federation Inc. (RPMFI).

“The governor of Pampanga is very much in support of the yearly workshop to further improve the effectiveness and efficiency of ‘Program Partners’ in the implementation of employment and livelihood programs of the province,” said Vergara.

Vergara is a national best PESO awardee for three consecutive years and hall-of-famer, while the first-term governor was cited late last year by the DOLE for her success in livelihood and employment programs.

“The activity is to provide an effective tool not only in furthering the empowerment of PESO focal persons on different DOLE programs but also in enhancing camaraderie among the attending local government participants,” she added.

Vergara disclosed that DOLE-Pampanga head Arlene Tolentino and Fidel Gonzales, DOLE Labor Employment Officer III, are the resource speakers of the workshop.

“Our governor wants us to improve on a consistent basis to limit the number of unemployed in Pampanga,” said Vergara.
She disclosed that the Pineda administration generated 13,876 local employment and 2,817 overseas jobs as of latest data from the PESO.

“The jobs we generated in almost three years under Pineda is the highest-ever I have seen since I joined the PESO-Pampanga in 2000,” said Vergara.

She said among the topics of the workshop are Labor Management Information (LMI), Statistical Performance Rating System (SPRS), DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), Skills Registry System (SRS).

Vergara said Pineda also asked the PESO managers, coordinators and focal persons to work on the improvement of the “job-matching” program of the province. ●Joey Pavia
