SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — A residential house in this Freeport has become a “worship venue” for Catholics and tourists after two images of Christ appeared in several branches of an old Acacia tree.
Since Holy Week, thousands of Catholics have flocked No. 48 Finback Street in East Kalayaan here after news spread of the said appearances.
Devotees and tourists offered flowers and prayers as they visited the place.
The house, said caretaker Henry Heneralo, is owned by a certain Pocholo Galian, who is the owner of the Victory Liner bus company.
Heneralo said he has been working with the Galians for two years now, adding he had seen the branches of the Acacia tree two years back.
“Pagdating ko rito, putol na yang mga malalaking sanga na yan, pero nito lang bago mag semana santa nung napansin ng nanay ko yung mga imahe na iyan (The tree branches had already been cut before I arrived here, but it was only recently that my mother saw the images of Christ),” Heneralo said.
He added that many priests and nuns have already visited the place, offering flowers, candles and prayers.

Heneralo also noticed that after the images appeared on the branches, crows that usually flock the tree disappeared.
“Pinapakain ko pa nga yang mga uwak na yan araw-araw noon, siguro mga 30 to 40 sila pero nung lumabas yang mga imahe, ni isa wala na akong makita na nakadapo sa puno (I used to feed the crows every day, about 30 to 40 of them. But ever since the images emerged, they disappeared),” he added.
The Galian residence is a modern house with a huge parking space in front and a huge backyard. The acacia tree where the images have appeared is located at the left side of the house.
Heneralo usually sits in front of the gateless house and usually assists visitors who want to see the images.
“Sabi nga po ni sir (Galian), hindi dapat ipagdamot ang mga imahe kaya kahit sino na gustong makita yan at bumisita rito, eh welcome po sa lugar na ito (My boss says this place is open for those who want to see the images),” Herenalo said. (Anthony Bayarong/Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
