This Manila wine tasting event offers one of the most comprehensive profile of the fine wines of Burgundy. The wines of Burgundy are not as readily available in the Philippines as wines from other wine regions such as Bordeaux, California, Italy, Spain, Chile, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand. This is partly due to the fact that the red and white wines of Burgundy are quite expensive and they are not easy to understand even for wine importers in the Philippines.

The wines for this wine tasting in Manila are organized into five groups each representing one major category of Burgundy wines. These five groups of wines are:

Group 1: Red Wine of Burgundy
Group 2: White Wine of Burgundy
Group 3: Sparkling Wines of Burgundy
Group 4: Vintage red wine of Burgundy
Group 5: Vintage white wine of Burgundy

Guests are invited to taste a wine of his/her choice from each of the five groups. We hope that this will give everyone a chance to sample some of the classic wines from this famous wine-producing region in France.

Guests can arrive anytime during the wine tasting and go through the five tasting at his/her own pace. Each ticket for this wine tasting contains five tasting stubs. Each stub corresponds to one of the five groups of wine featured for this tasting. Participants approach the wine service station and surrender a stub to redeem it for a tasting pour (roughly 55-60ml) of a wine in that group.

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga—A man wanted for murder in Antique province was arrested in Meycauayan City, Bulacan.
The accused was identified as Gilbert Lopez, 27, janitor, a native of Laua-an Antique and presently residing in Manzano Subdivision, Barangay Ibayo, Marilao, Bulacan.
The arrest was by virtue of warrant arrest issued by Presiding Judge Rafael Penuela of the Regional Trial Court Branch 64, Bagusan Antique dated August 12, 2008.
No bail is recommended for the temporary liberty of Lopez.

There is nothing more revealing and informative than a comparative tasting of wines in a well designed lineup.

With so much interest in pairing of wine with food, it is unfortunate that most of the attention and emphasis have been placed on western cuisine. If wine is to achieve more popularity in the Philippines, it must earn a place on the dinner tables at our homes where Filipino dishes are served more often than French, Italian and other European food.

Yats Wine Cellars have carried out extensive research as well as quite a bit of experimentation on the matching of wines with Filipino dishes. Contrary to popular belief that fruity white wines are the only options for Asian cuisine, we will be presenting food-wine pair-ups that involve all the styles of classic vintage wines. Unless good wines can be enjoyed at home where delectable local cuisine is served, wine will never be a staple dinner beverage in this country.

Paired with Sizzling Gambas

Filipino Spicy Gambas or Spicy Prawns, sauteed large prawns in hot pepper sauce with Sliced green chili a delicious Filipino appetizer.

Red Wine from Italy
Paired with Kaldereta

A dish made with cuts of pork, beef or goat with tomato paste or tomato sauce with liver spread added to it.

Flight No. 3:
Matured Vintage Red Wine
Paired with Chicken/Pork Adobo

Typically pork or chicken, or a combination of both, is slowly cooked in vinegar, cooking oil, crushed garlic, bay leaf, black peppercorns, and soy sauce, and often browned in the oven or pan-fried afterward to get the desirable crisped edges.

Yats International Wine Club establishes reciprocal agreement with Shanghai Ambassy club

Through a reciprocal agreement inked between Yats International Wine Club and Ambassy Club in Shanghai China, members of both clubs may enjoy special reciprocal member’s privileges.

Entrance Shanghai Ambassy Club

Members of Yats International Wine Club planning to visit the Ambassy Club in Shanghai China should first obtain a letter of introduction. Upon arrival at the reciprocal club, members can present it along with a passport.

Members may enjoy up to fourteen visits each calendar year. The Ambassy Club will issue a temporary membership card making it easier for visiting Yats International Wine Club members to pay for meals and other expenses throughout the visit.
