Lazatin dared to explain Congress absences

ANGELES CITY–Women’s groups in this city joined the growing clamor of residents to First District Representative Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin to explai
his reported continuous failure to attend congressional sessions in Quezon City.
Women’s groups stated that it is the duty of the 78-year old congressman to attend to duties in Congress and report the same to his constituents.
“Tarzan must explain his absences to the people who voted for him as representative of the first congressional district of Pampanga. The people expected him to perform well but it seems that Tarzan is consistently under bad weather lately, thus, could not really attend to his day-to-day functions as congressman,” Edna Gutierrez of the Samahan ng Kababaihan ng Lourdes North West (SKLNW), said.
“Congressman paki-explain po sa amin kung bakit lagi po kayo nag aabsent sa House of Representatives. Kami pong mamamayan dito sa Unang Distrito ng Pampanga ay nag eexpect na magampanan mo ang katungkulan mo bilang kongresista. Sayang naman ang boto naming kung hindi mo tinatrabaho ang katungkulan mo,” Gutierrez added.
Per records from the House of Representatives, Lazatin was absent in 17 session days in 2011. From July to November 2012, he was recorded as “present” in only 2 session days but “did not respond to the calling of the roll.”
“Is he sick? Is this the reason why he has failed to attend the sessions of the House of Representatives?” Maritess Canlas of the Barangay Recto Samahang Kababaihan (BRSK), asked.
“Tarzan Lazatin must reveal his true physical condition and health situation. He owes that to the electorate of Angeles City. Baka naman kailangan na niyang mamahinga at tumulong na lang sa krusada ni Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan tungo sa ikauunlad ng Ciudad ng Angeles,” Canlas added.
“Tarzan has failed to attend the sessions of Congress. That is the sad reality. Why? Only Tarzan Lazatin knows for now, and perhaps some people very close to him. But still we hope that this is not due to a serious ailment. We hope that he is well. However, it is still our belief that Tarzan Lazatin, now at the age of 78, must retire from politics. We hope he will be our first local statesman in the interest of unity and common good, and for the development and progress of our beloved city. If Tarzan could do this, then history will forever be on his side,” Margie Manarang, from the Women’s Assocition of Cutcut (WAC), said.
“Pakiusap namin na sana po ay magbigay-daan na si Lazatin sa mga mas nakababatang pulitiko. Gawin sana niya ang makasaysayang pagbibigay-daan na ito at maging kauna-unahang pulitiko na nagretiro para sa pagkakaisa,” Manarang added.

Filipino Spicy Gambas or Spicy Prawns, sauteed large prawns in hot pepper sauce with Sliced green chili a delicious Filipino appetizer.

Red Wine from Italy

A dish made with cuts of pork, beef or goat with tomato paste or tomato sauce with liver spread added to it.

Matured Vintage Red Wine

This public wine tasting in Clark Pampanga to be held in the London Pub on Friday 5th October, 2012 is a rather special event. This is a tasting of food and wine pairings, giving participants first-hand experience of the incredible synergy that is achieved by pairing the right kind of wine with different food.

Leading supplier of fine vintage wines in the Philippines, Yats Wine Cellars is pleased to announce an upcoming public tasting of wine and food pairings event to be held in the popular bar and pub in Pampanga called The London Pub.

This event will be held on Friday, 5th October, 2012 from 5 to 8pm, dress code is smart casual. The theme of this event is “a tasting of wine paired with food”.

Ticket price is php500+VAT.

Participants will taste four kinds of wines paired carefully with a specific kind of food. Wine lovers of all level of sophistication will have no trouble appreciating the synergy. The pleasure of the pairing exceeds the sum of the pleasures offered by the wine and by the food.

The four kinds of wines selected for this wine-tasting session are:

Italian Red Wine paired with a full-throttle Italian lasagna. Notice how the heaviness of the lasagna melts down once you have mouthful of a classic Tuscany red wine on the palate.

Classic White Wine paired with deep-fried prawn toast. The crisp acidity of the white wine cuts through the oil of the food resulting in a delectable impression that is quite refreshing.

Vintage French Red Wine is paired up with French blue cheese. This is an application of contrast in doing a food-wine pairing. The cheese is fatty and heavy. We use vintage red wines that are slim, agile, racy and vigorous. It seems like the two will go to war against each other but instead they end up hugging and dancing with each other once they combine inside your mouth.

Sweet Dessert Wine is paired delicately with a liver pate served on simple toast. On the surface this again smacks of a natural disaster. The sweet dessert wine is obviously designed to enjoy with dessert, something nice and sweet. The liver pate is dry and fatty. Toast is bland and boring. How can this work? Well, it does and one of the reasons is that the sweet wine comes with a high degree of acidity. In fact, it is one of the most acidic styles of wines. But of course, we only taste the sweetness.

The characteristics of Mongolian lamb is it is leaner but still with more than ample fat to make it easy to eat. Flavor intensity is higher than the counterparts from New Zealand and Australia. This one is easy. The classic pairing with lamb rack is Claret – red wine from Bordeaux. If you want to be super specific, zero in on the commune of Pauillac which by the way is also renowned for its lamb aside from the 3 first growths namely Lafite-Rothschild, Latour and Mouton-Rothschild. In truth, any good vintage wines from Bordeaux would work wonderfully well with this intensely flavored lamb rack, although connoisseurs tend to favor the left bank probably because of the Cabernet Sauvignon content in the blend.
