This Manila wine tasting event offers one of the most comprehensive profile of the fine wines of Burgundy. The wines of Burgundy are not as readily available in the Philippines as wines from other wine regions such as Bordeaux, California, Italy, Spain, Chile, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand. This is partly due to the fact that the red and white wines of Burgundy are quite expensive and they are not easy to understand even for wine importers in the Philippines.
 
 
The wines for this wine tasting in Manila are organized into five groups each representing one major category of Burgundy wines. These five groups of wines are:

Group 1: Red Wine of Burgundy
Group 2: White Wine of Burgundy
Group 3: Sparkling Wines of Burgundy
Group 4: Vintage red wine of Burgundy
Group 5: Vintage white wine of Burgundy

Guests are invited to taste a wine of his/her choice from each of the five groups. We hope that this will give everyone a chance to sample some of the classic wines from this famous wine-producing region in France.

Guests can arrive anytime during the wine tasting and go through the five tasting at his/her own pace. Each ticket for this wine tasting contains five tasting stubs. Each stub corresponds to one of the five groups of wine featured for this tasting. Participants approach the wine service station and surrender a stub to redeem it for a tasting pour (roughly 55-60ml) of a wine in that group.

Format of YATS Wine Experience ‘ YWE – Session

YATS Wine Cellars regularly hold non-commercial wine tasting to help wine enthusiasts expand their knowledge of wine in a most enjoyable and affordable way. These tastings are different from other commercial tastings. The wines from these tastings are not sponsored by a wine merchant and there are no salesmen. You are in the company of people from all ages and all walks with one common interest ‘ wine.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at a discount. Each ticket comes with five tasting stubs. The wines are lined up at a wine service station. Present a ticket at this station to surrender the stubs to redeem a tasting pours (roughly 55-60ml per pour) of five wines on the line-up.

Someone will always be available to answer questions or discuss topics pertinent to the theme of the wines in the event. Otherwise the event is a self-paced tasting exercise that is the most structured and economical way to sample interesting wines.

This Yats Wine Experience event offers a comparative tasting of fine wines from older vintages, covering over 40 years of wine making history in Bordeaux, arguably the most illustrious wine producing region in the world. This is a rare opportunity for wine lovers to enjoy the elegance and complexity of matured vintage wines. These fine qualities cannot otherwise be achieved in wine without bottle ageing. Participants might notice that some of differences experienced when tasting wines from difference age groups are attributable not only to age but variation in wine styles that were prevalent during different eras.

For this tasting, we have sorted the wines by different age groups of 8-year span starting with the youngest which is 10-year-old and younger, then 10-15, 16-20, 21-25 and lastly 26 and older. In vintage terms, the groups would be

A special “mystery” wine is added to the list, as sort of an amusement or a game for this event. Participants will be asked to guess not what kind of wine it is, not where it came from but approximately how old it is.

Ticket price does NOT include food but participants can order from the Oakroom Restaurant. In fact, participants may reserve a table to enjoy dinner during the wine tasting event.
