City government, vendors launch regular market cleaning project

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–The City Agriculture office here and the City of San Fernando Public Market Vendors Association (CSFPMVA) launched on Friday “Sagip Palengke” to maintain cleanliness in the market.
Myrna Manabat, City of San Fernando Agriculturist, said the vendors volunteered to clean the meat section everyday instead of once a week to attract consumers to go to the place.
“Minsan kasi noong nagmomonitor ako sa market, sinabi ko sa kanila na sa palengke ang kabuhayan nila kaya dapat lang na panatilihin nilang malinis ito,” said Manabat.
Manabat said, “dapat palaging malinis ang ating palengke para maengganyo at sumipag mamili ang mga kababayan natin dito sa siyudad.”
CSFPMVA president Alma de la Resma said there are about 1,000 vendors/members in the association.
“Because of our unity and cooperation, we can do it, with the support of the city government,” de la Resma said.
De la Resma also said, “we used to do our general cleaning on Fridays but now we will do it every day to maintain the cleanliness of our market.”
