PESO ‘Hall of Fame Award’
Zooming in on another matter of importance, we relate to you this good news from the Angeles City communication center: “The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of the Angeles City local government unit bagged the “PESO Hall of Fame Award” during the 11th National PESO Congress, which opened on October 5 in Davao City.
Mayor Pamintuan affirmed the commendation that Angeles City won this year’s “National Best PESO Award.”
For the third consecutive year, from 2009 to 2011, Angeles City bested other contenders in the “Highly Urbanized City” category.
Organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole), the National PESO Congress is an annual gathering of over 700 managers representing more than 1,000 PESOs nationwide.
This new recognition came after Angeles City placed fourth among the top performing cities in the highly urbanized and independent component cities category in the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Local Governance Performance Management System (LGPMS).
Angeles City was represented by PESO manager Adelina Deocales.
Pamintuan said Dole cited PESO Angeles City for its “genuine dedication in the delivery of service.”
The mayor attributed the award to the untiring effort of the city’s PESO personnel, together with the undying support of the business community, private companies, and other stakeholders in creating job opportunities to the Angeleños.
He congratulated Deocales and her office for bringing honor to Angeles City.
This annual event brings together PESO managers, staff, officials and employment focal persons of the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Offices in the entire Philippines to single out their unified efforts in the provision of efficient employment services.
The Public Employment Service Office or PESO is mandated under Republic Act No. 8759 or the PESO Act of 1999 to be established in every province, city, municipality, state and private colleges and universities, non-government organizations, and community-based organizations.
It aims to carry out the state policy to provide full employment and equality of employment opportunities for all and, for this purpose, to strengthen and expand the existing employment facilitation service machinery of the government at the local levels.

Easy Korean Dinner Party Menu-July 26,2011

To throw a stress-free dinner party serving Korean food, it’s important to choose a few dishes that can be made in advance and are still delicious when warmed up. This easy Korean dinner party menu includes rice, broiled salmon, noodles (chapchae), braised short ribs (galbi jim), kimchi and spinach side dishes, bean sprout soup, and barley tea. Everything but the salmon and short ribs can be made well in advance, and even these two gorgeous main dishes require very little hands-on time.
1. Kimchi

It’s not a Korean dinner without kimchi, so plan to make this at least 2 days before your party. If you eat a lot of Korean food at home like I do, then you might already have this in your refrigerator. If you’re a late planner, then I hope you’re lucky enough to live close to an Asian grocery store!

2. Bean Sprout Soup (Kongnamulgook)

You can make this the day before your dinner party and it will still taste fresh reheated. Put it in a soup pot and bring to simmer. Take it off the burner, cover it, and ladle it into bowls when you are ready to serve dinner.
3. Seasoned Spinach (Sigumchi Namul)

Sigumchi Namul is served as a cold side dish, so you can make it the day before or the morning of your dinner party and store it in your refrigerator. You can plate it and serve it directly whenever you are setting the table.
4. Stir Fried Korean Noodles (Chapchae)

These sweet potato noodles reheat well, whether you choose to warm them up on the stove or in the microwave. You can make this dish the day before your dinner party or the morning of, and then just reheat and plate it as your guests arrive.
5. Braised Short Ribs (Galbi Jim)

These Korean short ribs require a couple hours of cooking, but then almost no hands-on time after the initial prep work.
6. Barley Tea (Bori Cha)

Barley tea is an easy thing to make after the short ribs are cooking in your pot, and you can serve it directly from your stove since it is good served hot, warm, or cold on ice.
7. Broiled Salmon with Soy Honey Glaze

Broiled fish tastes best when eaten immediately, so this is the one dish that I would try to make right before you are about to eat. But the good thing about this menu is that everything else should be done: kimchi, rice, spinach, and sweet potato noodles waiting on the table, and the short ribs, bean sprout soup, and tea waiting on the stove to be plated and served. Format of YATS Wine Experience ‘ YWE – Session

YATS Wine Cellars regularly hold non-commercial wine tasting to help wine enthusiasts expand their knowledge of wine in a most enjoyable and affordable way. These tastings are different from other commercial tastings. The wines from these tastings are not sponsored by a wine merchant and there are no salesmen. You are in the company of people from all ages and all walks with one common interest ‘ wine.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at a discount. Each ticket comes with five tasting stubs. The wines are lined up at a wine service station. Present a ticket at this station to surrender the stubs to redeem a tasting pours (roughly 55-60ml per pour) of five wines on the line-up.

Someone will always be available to answer questions or discuss topics pertinent to the theme of the wines in the event. Otherwise the event is a self-paced tasting exercise that is the most structured and economical way to sample interesting wines.
