February 14, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The City of San Fernando has been chosen as a pilot area for a sanitation project dubbed as โAccess Sanitationโ or Accelerating City-to-City Exchange for Sustainable Sanitation.
City Health Officer Dr. Eloisa Aquino said the program is aimed at achieving habitable cities.
โThis is focused on environmental protection, particularly sanitation.โ said Aquino.
Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, meanwhile, expressed appreciation in the latest environmental protection initiative.
Rodriguez said the move is โa serious manifestation of our efforts to address the problem on environmental degradation, safe water and environmental protection as a whole.โ
The 2nd National Cities Workshop was held at Heroes Hall from February 7 to 10, where the City of San Fernando was chosen as the pilot area of the program.
The three-day workshop was held in partnership with the International Council for Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), Society, Ecology, Economy Consulting (Seecon) GMBH, and Ecosan Services Foundation, among others.
