Vendors reap rewards of labor office’s project
January 20, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Some 50 ambulant vendors here are now reaping the rewards of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (Dole) Negosyo sa Kariton (Nego Kart) Project.
This was barely a month after the regional Dole office in Central Luzon and the municipality of Lubao provided them livelihood assistance and other social benefit packages amounting to some P1,036,000.
Regional Director Ernesto Bihis said the recent recipients of the Nego Karts provided by Dole are among the total 70 beneficiaries in three batches for the municipality.
Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab, meanwhile, said her office, through the Public Employment Service Office (Peso) and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) took the task of screening and selecting the said beneficiaries.
Grateful
Rancy Malit, a person with disability and a father of one, expressed his appreciation to the Dole and the Municipal Government of Lubao under the guidance of Cayabyab for the Nego Kart, which he uses for his “mani-han” and “chichirya” business.
He added though it has only been weeks since he used his custom-made cart, he had yielded much improvement in his daily income.
Fely Manuil, an elderly widow, was also grateful.
“Salamat nang marami sa kinatawan ng Dole at sa aming butihing mayor sa pagkakataon na binigay niya sa akin, para sa aking pamilya,” she added.(Sun.Star Pampanga)
