Koreans trapped inside ‘fenced’ golf course
January 18, 2011
ANGELES CITY – Some 11 Korean nationals were “trapped” inside the Royal Garden Golf and Country Club here after a fence had been constructed around it by workers of Neplum Inc.
The construction of a fence around the property, owned by businessman Ruperto Cruz, has affected the operations of the world-class golf course situated at the boundary of this city and nearby Porac town.
Cruz said business has severely been affected since golfers and guests were not able to get inside the leisure estate since Monday morning.
Sun.Star Pampanga learned that Neplum Inc. is owned by the family of former Mayor Francis Nepomuceno.
Both Cruz and Nepomuceno were unavailable for comments as of posting Monday.
Cruz is a leader of the Pinoy Gumising Ka Movement (PGKM), which has been advocating for clean environment.
The PGKM has led a series of rallies calling for the closure of polluting hog and fowl farms here in the said town.
The Nepomuceno family, on the other hand, owns a property near the golf course where a poultry farm had been operating. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
