DOLE puts up six school-based PESOS in Pampanga
December 20, 2010
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, (PNA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with six reputable colleges and universities here for the establishment of school-based Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs).
The six schools are the University of the Assumption (UA), Holy Angel University (HAU), Guagua National Colleges (GNC), Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU), Pampanga Agricultural Colleges (PAC), and St. Nicholas College of Business and Technology (SNCBT).
The MOA signing was held at the Executive House of the provincial government of Pampanga and was witnessed by provincial administrator Andres Pangilinan, who represented Governor Lilia Pineda.
DOLE-RO3 director Ernesto Bihis said the school-based PESOs were established to further assist graduating students in finding and landing sustainable jobs after they graduated from school.
Through the existence of PESOs in schools, employment programs and services would be made easy and readily available to them, Bihis said.
Another important reason, he said, was addressing jobs mismatch, unemployment, and underemployment.
With the school-based PESOs in place, students will be guided on what career and employment paths to choose from through the proactive approach in career guidance counseling seminars.
The provincial government of Pampanga has expressed its support and commitment to the DOLEβs cause for the establishment of the school-based PESOs in the province.
The school-based PESOs are strategically established all over the country in order for the DOLE and PESO to address the unemployment problem in the country. (PNA)
