Pampanga airport best gift to Macapagal
CLARK FREEPORT — For Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the best gift that Pampanga could offer to the birth centenary of her father is the promise that the airport here will soon be the countryโs premier air dome.
The former President of the country said a premier airport that is named after her father would give the late President Diosdado โApung Dadongโ Macapagal due honor.
Arroyo attended the wreath laying ceremony at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport on Tuesday. She offered flowers to the statue of her father along with her children Luli and Dato.
The Macapagal family was given a moment of silence that allowed them to reminisce the life and works of Apung Dadong.
When she was president, Arroyo has given focus on developing DMIA to make it the primary airport of the country.
โSoon, the Subic-Clark will be continuing its development and soon, DMIA will be able to conclude the procedure for it to become the premier airport of the country,โ she said during the ceremony.
Romeo Dyoco Jr., vice president for operations and business development, said they are honored to carry the name of the patriarch Macapagal.
Architect Nestor Mangio, chairman of the DMIA board, has regarded Apung Dadong as a great Kapampangan and a man of intellect and integrity.
โWe honor him by doing more and becoming the best that we can be,โ Mangio said. (Charlene Cayabyab)
