Mayor: Angeles City relatively peaceful
ANGELES CITY — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan said Tuesday that the city is still relatively peaceful despite several killings involving foreign nationals over the past few days.
Pamintuan issued the statement amid reports that several foreign and local tourists are now afraid to visit and stay in the city.
According to the mayor, three out of the five killing cases recorded over the past two weeks were solved by the city police.
βWe cannot say that these are isolated cases but I can say that the city is generally peaceful,β Pamintuan said.
The city mayor said he has alerted the city police, headed by Senior Superintendent Danilo Bautista, to intensify its campaign against criminalities.
The city police, he said, have intensified its anti-drug and crime prevention campaign.
βI have alerted the city police and asked the city director to effect police visibility especially at the entertainment district and tourist belt,β Pamintuan said.
The City Government is supporting the local police in terms of equipment, fuel, and others to sustain its operation.
