Guv orders testing kits to solve rising dengue cases

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Governor Lilia Pineda instructed the Provincial Health Office (PHO) to purchase hundreds of new dengue testing kits to help curb rising cases of the mosquito-borne disease.
PHOโs Dr. Sonny Aquino told Sun.Star Pampanga that the kits, though expensive, work like a pregnancy kit that will immediately alert an individual if he or she is afflicted with dengue virus.
During the bloodletting activity at the Executive House at Capitol on Wednesday, Dr. Aquino said it was a big move to collect 450cc of blood, each of all types from volunteers.
Hundreds of blood donors from the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army and Capitol employees participated in the said activity.
โThe call of Governor Pineda and Board Member Monina Laus is indeed responsive. The kits, expensive as they are, would help us cope with the dengue plague. This would help us identify areas where we should focus on. Hindi po kaya lahat ng PHO ito and awareness would be foremost in our battle against dengue,โ Aquino said.
โThe most important part here, like what our governor said, is a clean environment and eradication of breeding grounds. Kahit sa dahon lang ng gabi, they breed. We are moving ahead with instructions from the governor on this. All efforts are being undertaken,โ Aquino said, adding dengue cases are expected to rise during the months August and September.
Pineda, for her part, told Sun.Star Pampanga, โTulong-tulong tayo. Still, treatments in our district hospitals are free, at sa JBL (Jose B. Lingad Regional Memorial Hospital) mayroon silang 50 percent discount na sagot ng Capitol. Pero sana lahat ay mag-effort para masolusyunan natin ito.
