Pampanga celebrate Independence Day

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Provincial Government and the City of San Fernando Sunday celebrated Independence Day separately, with grand events that hailed the Filipino freedom heroes.
Governor Lilia Pineda, paid tribute to war veterans, led the early morning rites Sunday.

“Huwag po natin sanang kalimutan ang kalayaang ating tinatamasa ngayon ng dahil sa ating mga veterans at bayani. Atin po tong pangalagaan (Let us not forget that the freedom that we enjoyed now is because of our veterans and heroes),” Governor Pineda told hundreds of Capitol officials and officials.
The governor also led the release of white doves that symbolized peace born from independence and democracy.
Over in San Fernando, Mayor Oscar Rodriguez led the annual Independence Day parade of the city, which many noted was the grandest ever held.
Around 3,600 participants from government agencies, schools, multi-sectoral groups, police and the military, marched from City Hall to Heroes Hall, led by 113 flag bearers symbolizing the 113th anniversary of Freedom Day.
“We do this every year not for show or any reason. We do this as part of educating, training and making the youth remember heroes who fought for our freedom and instill patriotism in their consciousness,” said Rodriguez.
