During the 1st PDRRMC meeting at Benigno Aquino Hall at the Capitol Compound, Governor Lilia Pineda, who chairs the PDRRMC, said all funds allocated to various agencies were based on actual needs and requirements.
“These allocations were based on your requirements that were presented to us. But our priority here is safety. Kung kailangan ay dadagdagan natin ito,” she told the council composed of multi-sectoral representatives.
Governor Pineda also thanked the previous administration of former Governor Ed Panlilio for leaving behind P63 million in calamity funds intact.
“Kukuha tayo sa P63 million na ito if need be, basta priority natin ang disaster risk reduction (We will use portions of this P63 million calamity fund, but our priority is disaster risk reduction),” she said.
The governor also asked for assurance of ongoing rehabilitation projects, especially with the advent of the typhoon season.
In particular, she asked the Department of Public Works and Highways about the Arnedo Dike project in the fourth district and the Porac-Gumain protective works in the second district.
“We must now identify critical areas that need to [be] assessed, lalo na iyung sa jurisdiction ng province. Huwag na ninyong hintaying lumaki ang problema and based on your assessment ay gawin na ngayon,” said Governor Pineda.
