Lass shed tears of joy because of guv’s support
STA. ANA — Sharmaine Martin of this town burst into tears of joy Saturday after Governor Lilia Pineda vowed to give her prosthetics for her right leg and send her back to school.
Martin is just one of about 2,000 who trooped to the farm of Mayor Rommel Concepcion in Barangay San Joaquin to thank the governor–who personally manned the front desk–during the whole day medical mission.

The lass has been on Pineda’s list, supporting her since she was diagnosed with cancer and seeing her through with necessary chemotherapy sessions.
Upon seeing her, Governor Pineda told Martin “I would provide you with the prosthetic leg so you can walk again.”
After learning from Martin’s mother that she stopped schooling because of her situation, the governor promised to send her back to school.
“Mag-aral kang pasibayu ne? Anak ka pa at malagu ka. Eka milalako pag-asa (Go back to school? You are young and pretty and should not lose hope),β Gov. Pineda told Martin.
Aside from Martin, Governor Pineda and her staff immediately acted on the cases and medical needs of indigents from the town’s 17 barangays.
Scores of families from nearby Arayat town also benefitted in the medical mission.
Provincial Board committee on health chairman Monina “Monz” Laus said the mission included minor surgeries, dental services, orthopedic references and free medicines.
The governor’s personal mobile pharmacy was also there.
“Our target is actually 2,000 but the way things are going, with people from Arayat and other transients, we might exceed that but rest assured we have ample supplies and volunteer doctors to assist them. Health is still the number one priority of Capitol and Governor Pineda”β Laus said.
