Barangay official, vendor gunned down

ANGELES CITY: A barangay councilman and a companion were killed when two unidentified suspects shot them while having a drinking session in Barangay Amsic here the other night.
City police chief Senior Supt. Rodolfo Recomono identified the victims as Jovito Canda, a barangay kagawad of Amsic and Rene Gutierez, 41, a vendor; both residents of Purok 4, Barangay Amsic, Angeles city.

Another companion, Rodrigo Cayanan a messenger of Metrobank and a resident of the same place was wounded and brought to Jose B Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in the nearby City of San Fernando.
Police said Canda was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital while Gutierez died while being treated at the same hospital.

Canda, Gutierez, and Cayanan together with some friends were having a drinking spree along an alley in their barangay when two armed men wearing bonnet and black jacket suddenly appeared, shot the victims, then walked casually in different directions, police said.
Police recovered 9 empty shells, 2 slugs and a live ammo from a caliber 45.
