CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Newly crowned Mutya Ning San Fernando Ina Florence Yap, reportedly the first ever Filipino-Chinese to be crowned “Mutya Ning San Fernando,” is bent on spending her term full time as ambassador of goodwill in promoting the city.
Ina is the strong-willed beauty and brains daughter of slain businessman Florence Jack Yap, who figured in an unfortunate tale months ago.
But Ina, an Asian Studies graduate of the University of Sto. Tomas, told Sun.Star Pampanga on Monday that despite what happened to her dad, she is keen on promoting the city, possibly foregoing offers for employment from multinationals.
The Fil-Chinese statuesque beauty from Dolores wowed the audience and judges during the finals on Sunday at SM Event Center, with her wit.
“I have now a lot of offers from banks and other employers. For a change though, I would want to promote full-time the City of San Fernando. It’s what I want to do at least for my term,” she said.
Hearing her statements, City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan asked City Administrator Ferdinand Caylao of the possibilities of the first-time objective.
“Of course, we welcome that and for sure, we would support Ina on her quests,” Caylao said.
Though painful, Ina said the loss of her father prompted her to move on.
“Somehow I feel it was all planned. It will be my dad’s death anniversary soon and I hope friends like you in media could help us resolve this someday,” Ina said.
For his part, Pyestang Fernandino Executive chairman Alex Patio encouraged Ina and her three Lakans — Robin Vale, James Nogoy and Jerome Ax’l — to move ahead with their plans and leave no job unfinished.
