Board member vows to boost ALS in fourth district
April 16, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Fourth district Board Member Ricardo Yabut has vowed to boost the Alternative Learning System (ALS) in his district even if it means funding it from his own pockets.
Yabut lamented that during the ALS graduation on Thursday at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, more than just eight graduates from the towns of Minalin, Macabebe, San Simon and Sto. Tomas made it through.
“That is too few considering the support Governor Lilia Pineda has been extending. Starting this summer, we will have weekend sessions where I would tap top graduates from Pampanga Agricultural College and Don Honorio Ventura Trade State University to do the mentoring. I will pay for all the expenses even if it has to come from my own pockets to make sure the needy and the poor get education,” he told Sun.Star Pampanga.
In a separate interview, Governor Lilia Pineda said that of the 500 ALS graduates: “Iyung more than 2,000 na tinuruan nila at 500 lang ang nag-graduate ay parang hindi maganda. Ang problema, kulang ang teachers at facilities at iyung iba, hindi na talaga qualified. So, despite this being a National Government project, I am releasing P1 million for ALS. Ang importante dito ay marunong na sila ng English at ibang skills so they could move on at dadami na sila. Ito ang aking tututukan ngayon, ang mga out of school youth at poorest of the poor.”
“We fully understand the predicament of our governor kaya itong ating gagawin ay in full support of her plans. There is really a need to address the concern on alternative education,” Yabut noted of the governor’s comments.
He said a parallel system is now on the works, providing much needed scholarship grants to indigenous people in the province, particularly Aetas.
“We are moving for a resolution where local government units would adopt Aeta scholars in their areas like in Porac and Floridablanca. Each barangay would have to sponsor one IP scholar plus more from Capitol. They would be sent to DHVTSU and PAC for studies. Afterwards, sila na ang magtuturo sa mga kapatid nila than foreigners doing it. The governor has given her nod and it’s just a matter of implementing it now. Sa atin, konting self sacrifice lang naman iyan eh,” said Yabut.

There are numerous opportunities for investments between US$100,000 and $500,000. These opportunities are especially attractive for semi-retirement lifestyles. The best, easiest and safest way to go about with this kind of investments is to deal with an existing business β a locator as business in Clark is called β so the investor is spared of the hassle of dealing with red-tape and bureaucracy that is always present in third-world countries. The existing locator has already cleared the path so to speak and even if it means asking for small premium for a partnership, it is very much worth the while of a new investor to take this route. Business opportunities depend largely on the skills, interests and experiences of the investors but there is a strong demand for more establishments in these areas: entertainment, shops, office space, construction and engineering services, restaurants and bars, transportation and travel assistance.
Clark Freeport is one of the most attractive business propositions the Philippines has to offer for investors in many kinds of businesses from BPO, hospitality, resorts and leisure facilities to condos, retirement homes, restaurants, bars and shops.
