412 finish education department’s learning program

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Four hundred twelve former out-of-school youths graduated from the Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the Department of Education (DepEd) in cooperation with the Provincial Government.
The graduation ceremony, held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convetion Center on Thursday, was attended by Division ASL coordinator Ruel Bondoc, Governor Lilia Pineda and Board Members Ricardo Yabut, Monina Laus and Crisostomo Garbo.
ASL coordinator Ruel Bondoc said the event marks another milestone in the battle against the reduction of the number of out-of-school youths in Pampanga, saying the graduates will now be able to fare better in society.
Board Member Monina Laus, who was among the speakers in the event, said the program will enable the graduates to get better jobs and even pursue further education.
She said she is urging Governor Pineda to help in the funding and infrastructure development for the ASL program here.
Pineda said around 206 of the graduates are in fact scholars of the Provincial Government, adding the government will always be ready to finance indigents who would like to finish their studies through ALS.
“Age is never a hindrance in pursuing one’s education. In fact, education is lifelong learning that should not stop from the four corners of the classroom,” she said.
