Mabalaqueño bar topnotcher honored

MABALACAT — Mayor Marino Morales lauded Johana Tanglao Sunga, a resident of Sitio Camalig in Barangay Dau here who placed fifth in the recent bar examinations.

“Johana made history. She made us all proud,” Morales said, as he led other town officials and employees in honoring Sunga last Monday.

“I am not aware of any other Mabalaqueño who made it to the Top 10 in previous bar exams, and for that reason, it seems that Johana has just made history,” he added.

The mayor even congratulated and praised Sunga’s parents, Gerry and Lee, for working hard in supporting their daughter’s education.

“Gerry and Lee deserve as much praise as their daughter,” Morales said.

Given the high cost of private school education in the country, it’s not easy even for a middle-class family like the Sungas to send a child to exclusive schools from grade to law school, Morales added.

He said the distinction achieved by Sunga highlighted the talent and skills of Mabalaqueños.

“We feel very honored and proud to know [that] we have produced a bar topnotcher,” Morales said.

He said one of his administration’s thrusts is education. He even lauded Governor Lilia Pineda for supporting his programs on health and education.

Morales said additional classrooms will be constructed inside the Mabalacat College to accommodate thousands of students in the coming school year.
